CONCEITS OF THE ANGRY LEFT

An interesting event occurred last week...itself of no interest...but the Blogosphere has been full of comments.

Apparently, at a public event, a "roast of sorts" last week...I think it was the White House correspondent's dinner...President Bush spoke, alongside a comic who gave a parallel schtick saying what he thought the President actually meant. It was said to be a funny event...Mr. Bush was making fun of himself, and apparently most people had a good time.

After that, another "comic" named Steve Colbert, (I don't watch most TV, so I don't know who he is) presented his piece which turned out to be an anti-Bush tirade, and according to others present, distinctly unfunny. The video is on the web...Google it up, if you want to see for yourself...

Among others, today's Wall Street Journal Online comments on an article in today's Washington Post by columnist Richard Cohen, in which he wrote:

...Rude is not the same as brash. It is not the same as brassy. It is not the same as gutsy or thinking outside the box. Rudeness means taking advantage of the other person's sense of decorum or tradition or civility that keeps that other person from striking back or, worse, rising in a huff and leaving. The other night, that person was George W. Bush.

Why are you wasting my time with Colbert, I hear you ask. Because he is representative of what too often passes for political courage, not to mention wit, in this country. His defenders--and they are all over the blogosphere--will tell you he spoke truth to power. This is a tired phrase, as we all know, but when it was fresh and meaningful it suggested repercussions, consequences--maybe even death in some countries. When you spoke truth to power you took the distinct chance that power would smite you, toss you into a dungeon or--if you're at work--take away your office.

But in this country, anyone can insult the President of the United States. Colbert just did it, and he will not suffer any consequence at all. He knew that going in. He also knew that Bush would have to sit there and pretend to laugh at Colbert's lame and insulting jokes. Bush himself plays off his reputation as a dunce and for his penchant for mangling English. Self-mockery can be funny. Mockery that is insulting is not. The sort of stuff that would get you punched in a bar can be said on a dais with impunity. This is why Colbert was more than rude. He was a bully.

The notion that criticism--whether of the Dixie Chicks or of Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer--amounts to censorship.

Claims by Democratic politicians that Republicans are "questioning" their "patriotism."

Fears of incipient fascism.

What these have in common, aside from being totally fantastical, is that they all reinforce the image of the Angry Leftist as courageous dissenter. In truth, this country is so tolerant, indeed downright indulgent, of this sort of "dissent" that it affords no opportunity to be courageous.

Speak "truth to power" in America, and power will pat you on the head and say, "What an adorable little girl." Some on the Angry Left could actually have the courage to stand up if they were faced with real consequences--but they are unlikely ever to get that chance. America's almost boundless tolerance thus reduces them to the level of petulant children. No wonder they're so angry.

Except that I'm not "questioning their patriotism." I'm stating my belief that their hatred of this President and of the rest of us who support him in his efforts to protect America is unpatriotic.

This is so even if Mr. Bush is clumsy with his language. It is so even if mistakes are made, as plenty are made in all wars. I do not question the President's sincerity or the magnitude of his effort on our behalf. I've not heard anyone else with an error-proof plan that differs substantially from his.

Winning this war...victory as he's defined it...a secure self elected Iraqi government, free of terrorists and able to defend itself.. is our only option.

Any other option is not only rude, not only "bullying," not only wrong, not only cowardly and base. It is anti-American and unpatriotic and deadly for our way of life and for us, our grandchildren, and everyone else.

Victory in this war, only one battlefield in a wider conflict, is essential for the continuance of our Civilization in what is clearly a war against it, being waged by enemies who believe they're fighting for their God of a thousand years ago, and who will stop at nothing, not now, not ever, to destroy us.

I do not question... I deny...the patriotism of those who love political power more than they love America.

There it is. Stuff that where the sun never shines.

IT'S THE CONTEMPT, STUPID!

The contempt the BMDems have for many of us just drips from their behavior and their assumptions of superiority. Despite their claims of identity to the "common man," they deny the value of the rest of us, Democrats, Republicans or Independents, who reject their anti-American rantings and their class warfare.. They don't only hate President Bush, but also others who believe that there are Higher Values than mere political power and the levers of government coercion.

I am a 44-year-old woman who grew up in Berkeley who has never once voted for a Republican....But despite all that, there is apparently no room for me in the Democratic Party. In fact, I have spent much of the past week on a forced march to the G.O.P. And the bayonet at my back isn't in the hands of the Republicans; the Democrats are the bullyboys. Such lions of the left as Barbara Ehrenreich, the writers at Salon and much of the Upper West Side of Manhattan have made it abundantly clear to me that I ought to start packing my bags. I'm not leaving, but sometimes I wonder: When did I sign up to be the beaten wife of the Democratic Party?

Here's why they're after me: I have made a lifestyle choice that they can't stand, and I'm not cowering in the closet because of it. I'm out, and I'm proud. I am a happy member of an exceedingly "traditional" family. I'm in charge of the house and the kids, my husband is in charge of the finances and the car maintenance, and we all go to church every Sunday......

The Democrats made a huge tactical error a few decades ago. In the middle of doing the great work of the '60s--civil rights, women's liberation, gay inclusion--we decided to stigmatize the white male. The union dues--paying, churchgoing, beer-drinking family man got nothing but ridicule and venom from us. So he dumped us. And he took the wife and kids with him.

And now here we are, living in a country with a political and economic agenda we deplore, losing election after election and wondering why.

It's the contempt, stupid.

NEGATIVITY

Joy and Lee Talbot sent this, which seems appropriate for a blog that exists largely to torment the patriots-not who denigrate our country with their hateful anti-Americanism and negativity. Remember this story the next time someone who knows nothing, and cares less, tries to make your own life miserable.

A woman was at her hairdresser's getting her hair styled for a trip to Rome with her husband. She mentioned the trip to the hairdresser, who responded: "Rome? Why would anyone want to go there? It's crowded and dirty. You're crazy to go to Rome. So, how are you getting there?"

"We're taking Continental," was the reply. "We got a great rate!"

"Continental?" exclaimed the hairdresser. "That's a terrible airline. Their planes are old, their flight attendants are ugly, and they're always late. So, where are you staying in Rome?"

"We'll be at this exclusive little place over on Rome's Tiber River called Teste."

"Don't go any further. I know that place. Everybody thinks it's gonna be something special and exclusive, but it's really a dump, the worst hotel in the city! The rooms are small, the service is surly, and they're overpriced. So, whatcha' doing when you get there?"

"We're going to go to see the Vatican and we hope to see the Pope."

"That's rich," laughed the hairdresser. "You and a million other people trying to see him. He'll look the size of an ant. Boy, good luck on this lousy trip of yours. You're going to need it."

A month later, the woman again came in for a hairdo. The hairdresser asked her about her trip to Rome.

"It was wonderful," explained the woman, "not only were we on time in one of Continental's brand new planes, but it was overbooked, and they bumped us up to first class. The food and wine were wonderful, and I had a handsome 28-year-old steward who waited on me hand and foot.

"Well," muttered the hairdresser, "that's all well and good, but I know you didn't get to see the Pope."

"Actually, we were quite lucky, because as we toured the Vatican, a Swiss Guard tapped me on the shoulder, and explained that the Pope likes to meet some of the visitors, and if I'd be so kind as to step into his private room and wait, the Pope would personally greet me. Sure enough, five minutes later, the Pope walked through the door and shook my hand! I knelt down and he spoke a few words to me."

"Oh, really! What'd he say?"

He said: "Where'd you get the shitty Hairdo?"

A LIBERAL TRIFECTA

This woman typifies the Barking Moonbat in three ways.....hence The Liberal Trifecta.

First, she's an ooooogly bitch, ain't she....it's fortunate that she's partly hidden by the sign and her sunglasses...what's there is not a pretty sight. I don't know why Liberals' women are so ungodly ugly. Helen Thomas? Nancy "Facelifted into Outer Space" Pelosi? Yuck.

Second, she's living proof that her subspecies of Democrat has absorbed and internalized the techniques of Josef Goebbels' Big Lie. They've told their lies so often that as Goebbels taught, they came to believe it....at least it's a mantra of the Moonbat Dems.

Let's be clear about this: I'll help you. Slowly. Take a slow deep breath and repeat after me, bitch, William Jefferson Clinton was NOT impeached for a "blowjob." He was impeached by the House and tried by the Senate for perjury....for lying under oath....about a blowjob...but for lying, not for getting his rocks off under the desk in the Oval Office while being serviced by a subordinate employee, the young daughter of a political supporter.

He was not convicted by the Senate, for obvious political reasons, but was found guilty by a Federal Judge, punished with a $90K monetary fine, and by the loss of his license to practice law before the State of Arkansas and the U.S. Supreme Court. That constitutes a conviction....before a judge. Conviction and punishment, for lying under oath. Not for a blowjob.

Here it is. Read it. Slowly. Carefully. Let the fire of truth consume your pea-brain.

In April, 1999, about two months after being acquitted by the Senate, Clinton was cited by Federal District Judge Susan Webber Wright for civil contempt of court for his "willful failure" to obey her repeated orders to testify truthfully in the Paula Jones sexual harassment lawsuit. For this citation, Clinton was assessed a $90,000 fine, and the matter was referred to the Arkansas Supreme Court to see if disciplinary action would be appropriate.

Regarding Clinton's January 17, 1998 deposition where he was placed under oath, the judge wrote:

"Simply put, the president's deposition testimony regarding whether he had ever been alone with Ms.(Monica) Lewinsky was intentionally false and his statements regarding whether he had ever engaged in sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky likewise were intentionally false . . ."

Repeat after me, all you BMs: It was not about sex, it was about lying under oath. Not about sex. About lying under oath. Not about sex. Not about sex. Now, when you awaken from this trance, you'll go outside, howl at the moon, and piss on a tree.

Third, she's a typical Liberal Dem...giving orders, begging someone else to do the dirty work, while she shouts and screams and hates to the full contentment of her black heart. If she really wanted to help, she'd give GWB the blowjob, herself....but, noooooo, she's one of the Englightened, too good for the hard political work "in the trenches." Rather, she's of the "I Want It; I Want It Now; I Want Somebody Else To Do It" persuasion.

It remains to be seen how much of Herr Doctor Josef's teaching has been fully internalized by these Moonsters. The good Doctor was one of them....an intellectual...a Philosopher...a Ph.D from the University at Heidelberg...a great man by the lights of such intellectuals as Baldwin and Garafalo, (who unfortuately couldn't find Canada afterall)...and a virulent anti-Semite, who when the Reich came unglued at the end, killed himself, but only after supervising the murder of his own six children by his wife.

Nice.

A FEW DAYS AGO FROM SWEDEN...

I"m busy today......no time for comments, but here's some information that might be lost to the "drive by media."

The Good News is that there are such things as "moderate Muslims." The bad news is that nobody knows how to tell them from the Muslim Brotherhood.

CounterterrismBlog reports......a few days ago from Sweden, where the country’s largest Muslim organization, the Brotherhood-linked Sveriges Muslimska Förbund (SMF), published a serious of demands

... Basically, SMF is asking for a partial introduction of sharia law in Sweden and the creation of a separate legal system for Swedish Muslim, something politicians from all sides of the Swedish political spectrum and moderate Muslim organizations have immediately condemned as completely unacceptable.

The Swedish case is hardly unique, but mirrors the demand of Brotherhood-linked organizations throughout Europe. For example, in Germany, the Islamische Gemeinschaft Deutschland (IGD), the country’s largest Muslim organization, has stated in its official publication Al Islam (here, page 48): “In the long run, Muslims cannot be satisfied with the acceptance of German family, estate, and trial law. … Muslims should aim at an agreement between the Muslims and the German state with the goal of a separate jurisdiction for Muslims.” In Great Britain, the UK Islamic Mission, has the stated goal of conducting a “continuous campaign for the establishment of Muslim family laws,” and to “establish Islamic social order in the United Kingdom in order to seek the pleasure of Allah.”

...Brothers use a cunning double-talk when dealing with Western elites, advocating integration and dialogue. ...Abu Qatada, al Qaeda’s “ambassador” to Europe was clear about the mujaheddins’ goal: “Muslims’ target is the West. We will split Rome open. The destruction must be carried out by sword. Those who will destroy Rome are already preparing the swords. Rome will not be conquered with the word but with the force of arms.”

No mention here of Iraq, Israel, the United States, Zionism, Palestine, since they didn't exist at the Gates of Vienna...none of the usual US LeftWing tropes so beloved of the apologists for these murderous bastards who are still fighting the wars of the 12th century, armed with the weapons of the 21st. Even these are not suffiencient alone, but combined with treason at home, and left wing hatred of anyone else's beliefs, they have a powerful claim on our future.

But, not to worry. Be happy. Sweden's a long way from here.
